New Family Registration

Families who do not currently have a student enrolled in Fargo Public Schools should complete the following steps.

Step One: Find Your School

Use the Fargo Public Schools address lookup tool to verify that your address is within the Fargo Public Schools district and determine which school your child will attend. Please note: Some addresses within the city of Fargo are served by the West Fargo Public School District. Use the address lookup tool before registering to confirm which school district and school serve your home address.

Step Two: Register Online

After confirming that your address is served by Fargo Public Schools, complete the new-student registration process in Infinite Campus.

Information Needed During Registration

Before beginning, families are encouraged to gather the following information:

  1. Student address and contact information
  2. Parent or guardian address and contact information
  3. Emergency contact information
  4. Student health information

Required Documentation

The following documents are required by North Dakota law. Documents may be uploaded during the online registration process. Contact your child’s school if you need assistance submitting documentation.

1. Proof of the Student's Identity

Provide a certified birth certificate or another acceptable form of identification for the student

A certified copy can be obtained by sending the required information to:

2. Parent or Guardian Identification

Provide a photo of the parent or guardian’s valid driver’s license, passport or other accepted photo identification.

3. Current Immunization Record

Provide a copy of the student’s current immunization record.

North Dakota law requires children to be properly immunized or in the process of being immunized before attending school. Review the North Dakota Immunization Schedule for additional information.

North Dakota’s school immunization requirements are enforced by the Fargo Board of Education.

4. Proof of Residency

Proof of residency must include the parent or guardian’s name and current address. 

Families Who Own Their Home

Provide one of the following:

  • Property tax statement identifying the property as a dwelling
  • Purchase agreement identifying the property as a dwelling or house

Alternatively, provide two of the following documents showing the current address:

  • Utility bill
  • Insurance document
  • Pay stub
  • Vehicle registration
Families Who Rent Their Home

Provide one of the following:

  • Official lease or rental agreement that includes an expiration date
  • Notarized Affidavit of Residence when renting without a lease

Lease or rental documentation must be updated annually. Families using an Affidavit of Residence may be required to complete registration in person. Secondary documents may be provided by the renter or landlord.

Alternatively, provide two of the following documents showing the current address:

  • Utility bill
  • Insurance document
  • Pay stub
  • Vehicle registration
