Fall 2026 Kindergarten Registration - February 2 – May 15

Children must be age 5 by July 31, 2026, to attend school in the fall.

Kindergarten Registration is a three-part process:

Part One: Pre-Register Online

  1. Verify the school your child will attend with your current address at www.fargo.k12.nd.us/AddressLookup
  2. Complete a Pre-Registration form. The school will review and accept your form, which may take up to 2 days.

Part Two: PowerSchool Registration Forms

  1. After your pre-registration is accepted, you'll receive an email from enrollment@fargo.k12.nd.us. This document will provide instructions on how to create a Parent PowerSchool account and add your child to it, or add an additional child to your existing Parent PowerSchool account. (Please double-check your spam/junk mail for this email reply)
  2. Log in to your Parent PowerSchool account and click the forms icon on the left side of the menu options.
  3. Complete and submit each form; the next form will automatically load after each submission. This process should take approximately 15-20 minutes per student. It is recommended to collect the following information prior to beginning:
    1. Student Address and Contact Information
    2. Parent Address and Contact Information
    3. Emergency Contact Information
    4. Student Health Information, including the physician and dentist names and contact information

Part Three: Submit Required Documentation

The following documents are required by ND state law and can be uploaded on the registration form RND-Required Documents, or they can be dropped off at the child's school during school hours:

1. A Certified Birth Certificate or Other Form of Identity of the student

A certified copy can be obtained by sending the required information to:

ND Dept. of Health
Division of Vital records
600 E Blvd. Ave., Dept. 301
Bismarck, ND 58505-0200

Alternatively, you may call 701.328.2360 or email vitalrec@nd.gov

2. Parent Identification (photo of your driver's license or passport)

3. A Copy of Your Child’s Current Immunization Record

North Dakota law requires that children be properly immunized or be in the process of being immunized before school starts. See the North Dakota Immunization Schedule.
Note: North Dakota has a “No Shots: No School Attendance” law that is enforced by our School Board.

4. Proof of Residency (select one of the following) that includes the guardian's name and current address:

  • Lease Agreement
  • Mortgage Statement
  • Property Tax Statement

Or two of these documents:

  • Utility Bill

  • Pay Stub

  • Tax Return

  • W2

Once all of the above steps are completed, your child is registered for the 2026-27 school year. Prior to the start of the school year, you can also use your parent account to pay school fees online. If you have any questions, call 701-446-1030. The 2026-27 school calendar is available on our district calendars page.

Mark your calendars for your school’s Kindergarten Round-up:

  • Each elementary school will host a night for Kindergarten families to hear an overview of what a kindergarten day looks like and have a tour of the building.
