Self-Paced Learning Model (MESSAGE to STUDENTS/FAMILIES)
Due to student summer school enrollments and the need to adequately fill a course to offer it, we are combining Hybrid and Virtual Academic courses into a single Self-Paced Learning (SPL) model that can function very well for all students and staff. Students will work through their course in a self-paced manner with daily direct teacher access/support in-person and on-line. PE classes continue as originally scheduled in the registration booklet. (PE Hybrid on-campus or PE fully Virtual)
- Dates remain the same. June only.
- Semester 1 = June 9-18
- Semester 2 = June 18-30
- 8:30 – 11:30 = Academic Class Self-paced Learning (SPL) Teacher on-campus at South.
- Shuttle bus transportation from Davies and North continues.
- Not required for any student(s). ALL students are invited and encouraged to attend.
- Extremely helpful for ALL students to work on a self-paced course with the teacher in the room. Learning support is immediately available. Obstacles are quickly overcome.
- Students unable or choosing not to attend SPL daily on-campus can email/call teacher during this time.
- Intended for full 3-hours, but students who have a life schedule that isn’t open from 8:30 – 11:30 may enter late or exit early with communication from home.
- A student could attend any and/or all of the SPL on-campus days at South.
- All students can expect 3+ hours of daily, independent, self-paced learning. The most efficient place to do this on-campus at South (8:30 – 11:30).
- 12:30 – 1:30 = Virtual STIC (Student + Teacher + Intervention + Collaboration) available for all students
- Teacher is available via email and/or learning management system.
- 2:00 – 3:30 = Academic Class Virtual Teams Meeting REQUIRED for ALL Academic Class Students.
- Teacher reinforces ELOs and Skills in a Project-Based, Real-world Problem Solving, Highly Student-Collaborative time that includes student presentation and authentic performance assessment.
- Utilize break out rooms and other collaborative and teaming options
- Utilize clever, creative digital meeting presentation skills and options. Real to life.
- 3:30 – 4:00 = Virtual STIC available for all students
- Teacher is accessible via email, Teams or learning management system
