Overview
The Nutrition Services Department provides the breakfast and lunch program to all students of the Fargo Public Schools. As a part of the USDA program, nutritionally balanced meals are served to promote healthier eating. Free or reduced price meals are provided to any students that qualify, free milk is provided to free and reduced students in Kindergarten through grade 5 at milk break, and free breakfast is provided to all reduced price students.
The Nutrition Services Department has 125 employees that work at our 21 school kitchens or the Central Kitchen and District Office. Approximately 3,000 breakfasts and 9,500 lunches are served daily on school days.
Student Fees Assistance and Benefits Application
Students are eligible for free or reduced meals at school as defined by the National School Lunch Act. This program provides assistance for families based on income and family size. Eligibility is determined via an application process that parents complete and submit each year.

Explorer Academy, Jefferson, and Madison Elementary Schools participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), allowing all students to receive free meals for the School Breakfast Program and the National School Lunch Program. Click here for more information on CEP.
