Work-based Learning
WORK-BASED LEARNING
DEFINITION:
Work-based learning (WBL) is a school-coordinated, coherent sequence of workplace experiences that are related to students' career goals and/or interests, are based on instructional preparation, and are performed in partnership with local businesses, industries, or other organizations in the community. WBL enables students to apply classroom instruction in a real-world business or service-oriented work environment.
A TIERED APPROACH:
We recognize that work-based learning is an ongoing instructional strategy that connects the classroom to the world of work. The three tiers of WBL are:
1. Career Awareness (all students)
2. Career Exploration (some students)
3. Career Preparation (select students)
