Overview
The Career & Technical Education Department provides students with the opportunity to engage in learning that introduces them to career pathways and preparation for higher education and employment.
Career & Technical Education (CTE) is learning that works for North Dakota. CTE is helping our community and our state meet the very real and immediate challenges of economic development, student achievement, employment demands, and global competitiveness. Fargo Public School’s (FPS) CTE is developing North Dakota’s most valuable resource—its students!
Fargo Public Schools CTE programs provide career pathways in the fields of Automotive Technology, Automated Manufacturing\Welding, Business Education, Construction Technology, Family and Consumer Science, Health Science, Information Technology, Marketing Education, Technology & Engineering. Students learn contents and skills through the application of real-world scenarios and hands-on projects. Employability and 21st century skills are embedded in practices and evaluated through performance.
FPS Students are supported in their career planning by Career Advisors, School Counselors, and CTE Teachers. Four-year career plans are created for all 8th grade students prior to entering high school. Career and Technical Resource Educators are on staff to monitor and support the individual learning needs of special populations.
