• At around 5pm on Wednesday, 9 May 2018, 35 cadets from ND-20061 left South High School for our annual Leadership Camp.  The event is held at Camp Grafton, the North Dakota National Guard's training installation near Devils Lake, ND.  Also attending were JROTC units from Devils Lake, Minot, and Grand Forks.  All-in-all over 200 cadets participated in the event.  We arrived at Camp Grafton at around 8:00pm.  Upon arrival the group unloaded the bus and then settle into the dorms and were in bed by 10:00pm to rest up for Thursday.  Thursday morning began early at 6:00am, with the group conducting reveille and then enjoying breakfast at to the Post Dining Facility.  After breakfast, the group headed to the training area and spent the rest of the day conquering the repelling wall, obstacle course, and the Leadership Reaction Course.  In the late afternoon the group was treated to orientation rides in Blackhawk helicopters.  For dinner that evening, the cadets enjoyed a hotdog cookout sponsored by the Army Guard Recruiters.  After dinner, the evening was spent participating in PT games with the other JROTC units.  The next morning the cadets arose early, ate breakfast, cleaned the dorms, and toured training facilities on the Post, to include the opportunity to experience the weapons simulator.  At around 2pm the cadets loaded the bus and headed back to South High School.  All and all it was a great trip highlighted by outstanding weather.  A special thanks to SSG Trent Engquist and the ND Army National Guard for hosting the trip.
