Fargo South Food Pantry
The Fargo South Food Pantry is partnered with the Great Plans Food Banks through Lutheran Social Services of ND to alleviate child hunger through the provision of food at school. The Fargo South Food Pantry aims to provide anonymous and confidential food to students and their families in need at no cost to them.
What is the purpose of the Fargo South Food Pantry?
The purpose of the Fargo South Food Pantry is to help alleviate child hunger through the provision of food to children and their families at school. School pantries are located on the grounds of the school and intended to provide a more readily accessible source of food assistance to low-income students and their families.
What types of items will be available at the school pantry?
Most of the items available are shelf stable, nutritious, and easy to prepare so that the children can care for themselves as much as possible. Some staples that should be available:
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Canned tuna or chicken
- Canned soups and pasta meals
- Applesauce, canned fruit
- Granola bars, fruit bars, etc.
- An assortment of hygiene products
- An assortment of clothing items
- Other miscellaneous items
Bags are provided for students to carry their items.
Is there a charge to students and families who receive assistance?
This program will be provided at no charge to the children participating in the School Pantry program. Participation is currently reliant on recommendations from staff, counselors, administrators, and teachers at Fargo South High School. We are currently having staff bring students to the on-site Food Pantry to choose needed items or staff is choosing the items and providing them to the student.
