Fargo Public Schools currently serves over 1,700 students through the special education program. We have over 140 service providers to include teachers, speech/language pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, and school psychologists. As our city continues to expand, our district continues to grow as well. We have 16 elementary buildings, 3 middle schools and 4 high schools within our district boundaries.
Navigating through the special education process can be a daunting experience. Fargo Public Schools wants to support families through the process of educating children with disabilities. Contained within this webpage you will find links for quarterly Family Involvement Meetings, parent education regarding the IEP process, and community connections.
Attention: Parents interested in serving on the new Fargo Public Schools (FPS) Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC)
The mission of the FPS SEPAC is to facilitate collaboration between students, parents, staff, the FPS Board of Education, and the community in order to promote inclusion, understanding of, respect for, and support of all children with special needs in our community. Additionally, the FPS SEPAC offers the opportunity for feedback regarding the quality of district wide special education policies, programs and practices of FPS.
FPS is seeking four parents/guardians of students who receive special education services to be part of the committee's membership. If you are interested in serving on the FPS SEPAC, please click here and fill out the Parent Interest Form. Information from this form will be used by the Teaching and Learning team to select parent representatives to serve for a two year term. Thank you again, Dr. Patty Cummings, Director of Special Education and Shelby DiFonzo, Assistant Director of Special Education.

Parent Involvement Survey 2021-2022
We want your feedback! Meaningful family participation is a very important part of the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA). A collaborative team is needed to create an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that provides students with disabilities an appropriate education. You as family members are a valuable member and we want to know about your experience as an IEP team member. Please consider taking this short survey (10 rating scale and 2 open ended). Your responses are collected by NDDPI and only provides the district with average rating for each question. We use this information to inform our professional development for school leaders and teachers. You may fill out only one survey per child with an IEP. The link is only valid for Fargo Public Schools families. Click here to start the survey.
