Students in the Fargo Public School District deserve to receive the highest quality education possible. Through corporate and individual donations, as well as planned gifts and bequests to the Foundation endowment fund, the Foundation supports a wide variety of programs and projects such as: 1) Providing grants to teachers and schools for innovative learning projects which would otherwise not be possible. Grants ranging from $500 - $2,500 are awarded in October and February of each year. Since 2001, the Foundation has awarded 713 grants, totaling over $416,000 in funding. See the grant section for further information about the program. 2) Coordinating the Adopt-A-School program that brings business employees and community organization members into the schools to assist with tutoring, mentoring, after-school programs, reading programs, clubs, and community service projects. The program is a "win-win" scenario for students, school staff and the businesses or community organizations who are involved. The Foundation currently monitors 28 partnerships. 3) Administration of over 20 scholarships that benefit graduating FPS students. The scholarships are funded with both annual and endowed gifts. 4) Building and maintaining an FPS alumni database (Fargo North, Fargo South and Woodrow Wilson graduates). The database is used to assist with class reunions, alert graduates to special alumni events and for alumni communications. 5) Providing student essential need funds for children who need assistance with clothing, school supplies, bus transportation, morning milk money, and other school related expenses.
