Some schools have enrollment as high as 78 percent and 14 of the 23 schools had an increase in the number of students eligible for free and reduced meals. This means that many families are struggling to make ends meet. The Critical Needs Fund is an annual fundraising effort organized by the Fargo Public Schools Foundation to ensure that each and every student who needs help with basic needs receives support. Annual contributions to the Critical Needs Fund help individual schools identify students most in need. Currently over 3,000 students need financial assistance of some kind.
