Automotive Technology 1

Prerequisite: None
This course, the first step of training that will enable students to enter the automotive service industry, begins by covering basic automotive care and maintenance with emphasis on automotive safety and hand tools. The following areas will be covered in greater detail: (1) Auto electricity, (2) Brakes, (3) Steering and suspension, and (4) Engine theory and repair. Students will work on component assemblies and live vehicles. This course is NATEF certified.
Automotive Technology 2
Full year; 2 credits
Elective, Grade 12
Prerequisite: Automotive Technology 1 or Placement
This course is a continuation of Automotive Technology 1 and will concentrate on theory and lab experiences in the following areas: (1) Auto electricity, (2) Drive lines and clutches, (3) Computer systems and drivability, (4) Front and rear alignment, and (5) Engine. Successful completion of this course could enable the student to articulate course work to post-secondary schools in North Dakota. This course is NATEF certified.
