![]() Head Coach Talia Butery - 7th yr. Coach Talia (Merritt) Butery has been with the Spartan Swim & Dive program for 11 yrs - 8 of which as head coach and 4 yrs. serving as assistant coach. Coach Talia was named the 2011 EDC & 2011 ND STATE HIGH SCHOOL COACH OF THE YEAR. She led the 2011 Spartans to an EDC championship (a 2pt victory over powerhouse West Fargo) and a 2nd Place-State finish at the 2011 ND State Swim & Dive Championships held @ UND's Hyslop Pool. Butery had 7 athletes named to the 2011 EDC All-Conference Roster and additionally, 9 girls named to the 2011 All-State Roster - 8 of whom achieved All-state 1st Team honors. Under Butery's leadership the 2011 Lady Spartans set 2 new FNHS individual team records (M.Derby - 100 BK & E.Roche- 200 IM), 2 new FNHS team relay records, 2 new EDC relay records in both the 200 Med. Relay & 400 FR. Relays & The distinguished NDHSAA's TEAM SCHOLAR AWARD for an AVERAGE GPA of 3.76. 2010- Butery led the Lady Spartan team to a respectedl 2nd place finish @ 2010 EDC and a hard-earned 3rd place trophy @ 2010 ND Girls High School State Swimming & Diving Championships. Coach Talia has also been instrumental in shaping one of the largest & most successful North Girls Swim & Dive Teams in recent Spartan history with 41 female athletes out for the the 2010 team, numerous personal-bests, 2 new HS team records & 4 athletes being named to the All-EDC & ND All-state team rosters. Coach Talia will join the 2012 Spartan Track & Field as an assistant coach (specializing in throwing) and in the past coached for the Moorhead High School Boys Swim Team and Fargo South High School Track & Field programs. Coach Talia attended UND and was a member of the Sioux Women's Track & Field Team. Butery has been employed by YMCA of Cass & Clay Counties for 9 years where she is in her 7th year as Head Coach of the FM Gators Swim Team (over 180 USA-SWIMMING registered youth athletes), an Adult Gators Swim Team, Gators Diving and the new prep. Insta-Gators programs. Coach Talia sits on the ND LSC Board of Directors and has served as Head Coach of "TEAM NORTH DAKOTA" Central -Zones 14-U 2009, 2010 & 2011 Teams. Butery will lead a 8-member Gator National Team to comptete @ 2012 YMCA National SC Championships in Greensboro, NC and take numerous Gators @ the 2012 Long Course Summer Speedo Sectionals to be held in Iowa City, IA. Butery a FN graduate is a former Gator & Spartan swimmer herself - lives in Fargo with her husband Eric and their beloved Springer Spaniel Gus. The Butery's recently welcomed a daughter in May 2012. |
![]() Asst. Coach Krystle Leidholm -Swimming Coach Leidholm (Ross) - 4th year Coach Krystle is originally from Sauk Centre, Mn and graduated from high school in 2005. She was a swimmer in high school for 6 years and also swam for the MSUM Dragons women's team for two years. In 2009 Coach Krystle graduated from MSUM with a degree in Math and a minor in coaching. Leidholm is in her second year of teaching and is currently employed by Fargo Davies High School in the math department. Besides coaching Fargo North, she is also an assistant coach for the FMY Gators Swim team for the past 4 years. Coach Krystle, her husband and newborn son reside in Fargo. |
![]() Asst. Coach Sarah Volk - Swimming Coach Sarah Volk - 2nd year Coach Volk recently joined the Spartan Swim & Dive Coaching staff. Volk hails from the Bismarck, ND area where she was a 3 sport athlete for Century High School. She has a master's degree in Education and is currently substitute teaching for Fargo Public Schools. We welcome Volk to the Spartan Family! |
![]() Assistant Coach Evonne Saleh- Diving Coach Evonne Saleh- 4th year is the diving coach for both the boys and girls swimming & diving teams at Fargo North. This year is her fourth season returning to the girls team and will be her fith year coaching the boys team. Evonne, a Fargo native and 2007 North High graduate, dove for FNHS girls team for six years. "While in grade school Saleh fell in love with swimming lessons, joined the the FMY Gators Swim Team swam for 2 years and then later became a diver", said Saleh. For the past three years Coach Saleh and Coach Talia have worked together to start diving camps as well as a future diving team through the FMY Gators Swim Team & YMCA of Cass & Clay Counties. This gives present and future divers in the F/M area the chance to practice and learn outside of the high school swim & dive seasons. Coach Evonne is currently a student at Minnesota State University Moorhead pursuing a degree in mass communications with an emphasis in broadcast journalism as well as completing a coaching minor. She intends to graduate Spring 2013. Saleh lives in Fargo along with her over-affectionate calico Bella. |
