FARGO — If the Dickinson boys hockey team needed an eye-opener, head coach Tom Folske said they got one. The Midgets were routed by Fargo Davies 14-0 in a nonregion game Saturday at Scheels Arena. “We just have to build on this,” Folske said. Jordan Foster scored four goals and had two assists to lead Davies. Cole Wurzer scored a goal and had three assists to help spark the Eagles’ potent scoring punch. By the time the first period was over, the Eagles were up 7-0. “The first period was a lot of standing around and watching,” Folske said. “Whether they were in awe of the building or the other team, I don’t know.” Folske said no matter the reason, the Midgets (0-2-0) were unprepared to play. He said the second period was much better, despite Dickinson giving up five goals. Davies opened this fall, but Folske said many of the players were together at Fargo South last season. “They played bantams and pee-wees together,” Folske said. “They’re not strangers. That’s for sure.” Midgets sophomore goalie Jamison Grey had 34 saves before being pulled in the second period for junior Matt Porter, who made four saves. The Midgets offense couldn’t get going as Davies goalies Tucker Windles and Nick Kazmierczak had 10 saves and one save, respectively. Dickinson has a week off before its next game at 3 p.m. CST on Dec. 4 at Bottineau.
